The May Day Project 2003
Hmm... what does a normal guy's Saturday look like? I'm not sure, but at least I have photos of my Saturday. As part of the May Day Project, I attempted to take a photograph every hour or so. I was doing pretty good until I forgot the camera in the car later in the day. Take a peek and please hold any yawning until after the last picture. Thank you.

8:06 AM : Good morning. I'm barely up. This alarm clock is the backup to the alarm radio and alarm television, should either of those fail to wake me.

9:29 AM : After revisiting my bed, eating some breakfast and reading the newspaper, I finally enjoy a cup of coffee. My parents call to say they will be visiting me some time this morning.

10:00 AM : A lightning round of cleaning begins with an emergency vacuuming of the house. The Hoover stands at the ready in the guest bedroom.

11:09 AM : The kitchen is as spotless as I can get it just before my folks, my sister and Fluffy (the dog) arrive.

12:12 PM : In exchange for a rowing machine, my parents give me their old stationary bicycle. It is the squeakiest Schwinn ever and the odometer is broken. As long as the pedals and resistance work, I'm fine with it.

12:59 PM : I head out to grab some lunch for everybody. This is downtown, about a mile from home.

1:05 PM : By a majority vote, Burger King is the lunch location of choice. I know, so very healthy.

1:18 PM : It takes them over ten minutes to fill the order. Not very fast food. On the way back, I pass the temporary skateboard park.

1:19 PM : This is only a block or two from my house. Out of sight and off to the right is a school baseball field. I'm waiting for the day when a slugger sends a home run through a passing car's window.

2:56 PM : My family leaves, but I promise to meet them for Chinese food later on. After four hours around Fluffy, my allergies kick in and I camp out on the couch with a good book.

4:57 PM : I was reading right up to the point when my eyes closed. I end up napping for an hour. When I finally get up, my allergies have subsided. Before leaving the house, I check mail and the boards on the computer.

5:31 PM : Highway 101 always seems busy, even on the weekends. The horses on the overpass laugh at the slow vehicles below. After placing the camera on the passenger seat, I accidentally leave it there for the rest of the day.
And that was most of my Saturday. If you're still awake, thanks for taking the time to view these photos.
