(or, News You Couldn't Possibly Use)

Perhaps you've been wondering why I haven't posted anything here for the past two weeks (I know I have). More likely, you haven't been wondering at all, and that's okay. Honestly, I haven't either (despite a previous parenthetical aside to the contrary). That's because Life over the past two weeks has been Busy, and in between being Busy and being Exhausted, I didn't have time to write here. Okay, that isn't entirely true. I had time, but those pockets of minutes always coincided with an utter lack of web access.

Some of you (those who follow me on Twitter), may have noticed I made a couple of random references to change a couple of weeks ago:

10-Word Assoc.: change dime turn around circle life saver coupon redemption salvation. (Relieved "change" didn't lead to "doom".) - 10:01 AM Jul 16th
Whenever somebody tells me "things are going to change", I always think of this Scary Go Round strip: link - 9:21 AM Jul 20th

Apparently, at the time, I was only capable of being annoyingly vague about what was going on in my life (a nasty by-product of attempting to keep quiet and failing). But now, the pressure of keeping the news to myself has grown to be too much, so I'm just going to blurt it out in one two-part go.

First, on Friday, I started a new assignment at The Company, which is significant because:

  1. It meant leaving the assignment I had been working on for the last eight years;
  2. it meant leaving the division I had been working in for the last eleven years;
  3. it meant moving from our offices in downtown San Jose to a satellite office on the northern tip of the city.

It's a change that brings great challenges and great opportunities. I was brought in because I have certain expertise, but I suspect (and hope) I will also learn a great deal while I'm here.

Second (and more importantly), twelve days ago, on a sunny Tuesday morning, on the grounds of a Napa Valley winery (whose name rhymes with Wee Kapluey), in front of a handful of family and friends, M and I were married.

The next day, we boarded a plane in San Jose and flew to the Big Island of Hawaii, where we enjoyed a week-long honeymoon.

I'm still going through the photos I took of our adventures and I hope to upload the first batch tonight or tomorrow for everyone to see. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a photo I posted on Flickr a few hours after the reception (while I still had web access).

Kangaru Has Some Happy News

And as a blog exclusive, I'll share one of the many (many!) photos taken of M and I that day.

Tee: Thank you!

ann: Thanks. If I remember correctly, that photo of us was the last one of the day and my smiling muscles were feeling fatigued. :D

Theresa: Thank you. Busy (the all-caps kind) was fine for a while, but I'm ready for it to return to being lowercase. :)
