A Poem About Trees (By Somebody Else)
Poem on my mind... "Trees" by W.S. Merwin, as heard on The Writer's Almanac.
Trees (excerpt)
I am looking at trees
they may be one of the things I will miss
most from the earth
though many of the ones I have seen
already I cannot remember
and though I seldom embrace the ones I see
and have never been able to speak
with one
I listen to them tenderly
their names have never touched them
they have stood round my sleep
and when it was forbidden to climb them
they have carried me in their branches
If somebody created a patch with this poem on it, I would sew onto my backpack in a heartbeat.

i heard this exact poem too! what a small world when one listens to G.K. (and what a great way to start the morning)
It's strange to say, but the morning doesn't feel complete if I don't listen to GK and the Writer's Almanac. I receive it via e-mail, but reading it just isn't the same.
