What follows is the list of the books I read in 2006. Of the 52 listed, 34 were fiction and 18 were nonfiction. 44 were written by men, 8 were written by women, and none were written by ferrets. Who were the hot authors to read in 2006? Terry Pratchett (5), Jasper Fforde (5), George MacDonald Fraser (4), and P.G. Wodehouse (3). But enough statistics, let's get to the list...

wow, great job. I just finished "Shattered Air" you should read it, good book.
Thank you and thanks for the book recommendation. I'll have to pick it up the next time I'm at the library and make it 1 of this year's 52.
You did a lot better than I did. I tried it first in '05 and got in 32 books. In '06 even worse - about 20. I blame it on a trend of working late nights the last year or so -- usually I lay and read awhile before falling asleep, but lately I've been passing out right away, before the book even gets cracked open.
Of these, which was your favorite? I've got #10 waiting on my shelf.
I usually have the same problem of falling asleep before breaking a book open if I'm in bed, so I get most of my reading done on the bus or train. (Thank goodness for public transit.) It's hard to choose just one favorite out of last year's batch. #10 was a good book, but right now, I would have to single out Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation. It a blend of humor, travel, history, and presidential trivia.
